FOR THOSE WHO LINGER

A quiet code of time, revealed through motion, shadow, and restraint.

GPHG Recognition

In 2021, CIGA Design’s Blue Planet watch emerged from 208 exceptional entries at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG), earning recognition on one of watchmaking’s most prestigious stages.
Known as the “Oscars of Watchmaking,” GPHG celebrates creativity, craftsmanship, and innovation from around the world.
From Earth’s blue oceans to the depths of cosmic darkness, CIGA Design continues its exploration beyond conventional timekeeping.

THE PLANET IN MINIATURE

Time Cipher begins with a different way of telling time. Instead of fixing hours in place, it lets them wander — moving alongside the minutes in a display shaped by motion rather than convention. This idea traces back to the 17th-century wandering-hour clocks created by the Campani brothers for Pope Alexander VII, and later evolved through pocket watches into modern watchmaking as a more expressive way to reveal time.
Time Cipher carries that history forward, but strips away the excess often associated with the complication today. Rather than relying on layered satellites or theatrical scale, it reduces the wandering-hour into a single, deliberate gesture. At the center of the dial, one continuous assembly traces the minutes, while the rotating hour disc is read against a fixed marker — making time feel less displayed than deciphered.

DECODED IN PULSE

At the heart of Time Cipher is the self-developed Caliber CD-08, built upon the proven Miyota 9000-series architecture and reworked to support its wandering-hour display. Running at 28,800 vibrations per hour, with 24 jewels and a 42-hour power reserve, it is designed to deliver stable, consistent performance while guiding a display defined by controlled motion and precise alignment.
Viewed through the sapphire caseback, the movement reveals the structure behind that experience. Its customized automatic system gives the wandering display the reliability needed for daily wear, while preserving the measured rhythm that defines the watch. In Time Cipher, the movement is not hidden power or visual spectacle — it is the quiet mechanism that makes the code legible.

DECODED IN FORM

Time Cipher translates minimalism into form through a newly sculpted round case that feels slim, fluid, and controlled. By removing conventional lugs and refining the silhouette into an integrated profile, the watch gains a cleaner presence on the wrist. At 11.8mm, it remains composed and close-fitting, while shallow capsule-shaped recesses at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o’clock add subtle depth to the case architecture.
Crafted in 316L stainless steel, the case balances micro-sandblasted recesses with mirror-polished outer surfaces for a restrained contrast of texture and light. A domed sapphire crystal rises gently above the case, reinforcing the watch’s clarity and sense of tension. Together, these details shape Time Cipher into a form that feels modern, minimal, and quietly exact.
