Dashuifa Site in Summer Palace
The bottom of the watch is engraved with the design of the Dashuifa Site. The Dashuifa Site, located within the Yuanmingyuan (Old Summer Palace) in Beijing, is one of the ten scenic spots of the Haiyantang (Sea of Tranquility Hall). It was constructed during the reign of the Qianlong Emperor of the Qing Dynasty, spanning from the tenth to the twenty-fourth year (1745-1759).
The main feature of the Western-style buildings area is the artificial fountain, formerly referred to as "water method" or "shuifa" in Chinese, characterized by its large quantity, grandeur, and unique design. Hence, it earned the name "Dashuifa", meaning "Great Water Method". It mainly consists of three large fountain groups: Xieqiqu, Haiyantang, and Dashuifa, showcasing a blend of Chinese and Western cultures. The Dashuifa is located west of the Haiyantang, at the intersection of the north-south main axis of Changchun Garden and the east-west axis of the Western-style buildings area. It is the most magnificent European-style fountain landscape within the garden.
