The Art of the Ascending Dragon

Inspired by the ancient Chinese classic I Ching (The Book of Changes), Loong Ascending From Abyss takes its name from the idea of the hidden dragon: a symbol of quiet strength, patient preparation, and the power waiting to emerge. Drawing on the refined aesthetics of imperial Chinese craftsmanship, DALKOMM transforms this timeless philosophy into an expressive work of contemporary independent watchmaking.

The dial brings a Chinese dragon to life through intricate metalworking techniques, while guilloché patterns evoke the finely worked surfaces of traditional court objects. Beneath the sculptural composition lies the Cal. 8006 tourbillon movement, its precise mechanical rhythm embodying the strength concealed beneath a restrained exterior.

The Standard Edition showcases the dragon through a sophisticated sequence of traditional metalworking techniques, including lost-wax casting, chasing, inlay, sandblasting, and electroplating. These processes build a richly layered, three-dimensional figure that appears to emerge from the dial, bringing the mythical creature's power and movement into focus. Paired with intricate guilloché patterns and the exposed mechanical presence of the tourbillon, the design captures the essence of Loong Ascending From Abyss: strength cultivated in silence, awaiting its moment to rise.

The 44.5 mm case is crafted from 316L stainless steel and paired with a 10 mm-thick sapphire crystal, creating depth and presence on the wrist. A distinctive strap combines fluororubber with African python leather, whose naturally irregular markings make each strap unique.

More than a timepiece, Loong Ascending From Abyss is a contemporary interpretation of Chinese symbolism, traditional decorative arts, and mechanical ingenuity. Both the Standard and Collector’s Editions received the Platinum Winner distinction at the 2026 MUSE Design Awards, recognizing their distinctive approach to design.

Rooted in the Chinese concept of the hidden dragon, this timepiece embodies patience, inner strength, and the promise of transformation. Its design translates an enduring Eastern philosophy into a powerful contemporary expression.

The Cal. 8006 tourbillon movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of at least 68 hours. Its precision mechanics complement the dragon’s sculptural form, uniting traditional symbolism with modern horological engineering.

Lost-wax casting, chasing, inlay, sandblasting, and electroplating bring the dragon to life in intricate relief. Each technique contributes a distinct texture, creating a layered composition that celebrates the artistry of traditional Chinese metalworking.

Both editions received Platinum Winner recognition at the 2026 MUSE Design Awards. Blending Chinese cultural inspiration, intricate craftsmanship, and contemporary mechanical watchmaking, Loong Ascending From Abyss offers a distinctive perspective on collectible independent watch design.
