Time in Motion. Mechanics Reimagined.

What if a watch hand no longer needed to rotate around a central axis? The Mandetbrote Orbital explores this question through an unconventional folding-hand mechanism that transforms timekeeping into a fascinating mechanical performance.
Inspired by the movement of railway flip clocks, industrial pulleys and clock tower pendulums, its distinctive two-jointed mechanical arm travels along an elliptical track, continuously folding and extending as it progresses. Sixty Super-LumiNova® markers define the minute scale, while a rotating disc at 6 o'clock displays the hours. Powered by a modified Miyota 9015 automatic movement, the Orbital combines unconventional engineering with everyday mechanical reliability. Its sculptural display challenges traditional perceptions of time, inviting a more deliberate and engaging way to experience every passing minute.

Breaking away from conventional rotating hands, the Orbital features a two-jointed mechanical arm that continuously folds and extends as it travels along an elliptical track. Its changing geometry creates a captivating sense of movement, turning the simple act of reading time into a mechanical spectacle.

The minute scale is formed by 60 Super-LumiNova® luminous markers arranged along a winding orbital track. As the mechanical arm advances, its changing shape indicates the passing minutes, combining unconventional time display with practical readability in low-light conditions.

Hours are displayed through a rotating disc at 6 o'clock, with a triangular indicator identifying the current hour. The mechanism is powered by a Miyota 9015 automatic movement enhanced with Mandetbrote's proprietary orbital display module, delivering a distinctive mechanical experience with a 42-hour power reserve.

The double-domed sapphire crystal is precisely engineered to minimize optical distortion when viewing the orbital mechanism from different angles. Beneath it, a concentric radial-pattern dial provides visual depth and texture, while the stainless steel case balances the complexity of the display with everyday wearability.
