A Springtime Portrait of the Forbidden City

The Dan Chen Tian Gong Collection by Merkur draws inspiration from the architectural beauty and seasonal poetry of China's Forbidden City, bringing the refined aesthetics of imperial court art into contemporary independent watchmaking. Each timepiece features an entirely hand-painted dial, where traditional artistic expression meets the intricate mechanics of a high-beat coaxial tourbillon.
Inspired by the Forbidden City's imperial gardens in spring, Spring captures the beauty of palace walls, blossoming flowers and the gentle warmth of the season. Guided by the visual language of Qing Dynasty court paintings, the dial is meticulously hand-painted with layers of mineral-inspired colors and delicate brushwork. No two dials are exactly alike, making each piece a unique work of art.
At 6 o'clock, an open coaxial tourbillon introduces a dynamic mechanical dimension to the picturesque scene. Paired with sculpted, multi-faceted hands, the watch brings together traditional imperial aesthetics and modern horological craftsmanship in a miniature portrait of spring.
