Founded in 2016 by Zhang Jianmin, CIGA design is an avant-garde brand driven by industrial design. From Earth’s blue oceans to the depths of cosmic darkness, CIGA Design continues its exploration beyond conventional timekeeping.
A STAR DRAWN INTO SHADOW
Black Star begins where the Blue Planet story leaves Earth behind. Created with Swiss atelier Label Noir, it moves from the world’s grounded beauty toward the unknown, turning the dial into a universe shaped by contrast, depth, and gravity. What began as a dialogue between CIGA design’s mechanics and Label Noir’s monochrome language became a year-long co- creation, where shadow is not absence, but form.
At the center, an 8.50mm concave pit evokes a black hole, CNC-machined and coated with Super Black pigment that absorbs over 99.4% of light. Around it, blue spiral painting and scattered stars trace a distant galaxy, while luminous markers keep the display legible in darkness. Diamond-tipped tools carve the dial with nanometer pre - cision while PEO hardening adds durability.
TIME GUIDEDBY THE POLAR STAR
Black Star keeps the Aventur reading system, but changes its emotional gravity. Instead of hands
crossing a conventional dial, a luminous polar-star pointer orbits above the cosmic field, guiding the wearer through darkness from a single point of
reference. The display feels less like counting time than finding direction—an astronomical reading shaped by motion and orienta- tion.
Its Swiss-made automatic Caliber CD-04-S powers CIGA design’s Asyn - chronous-Follow technology, reconfiguring the gear ratios so the hour gear turns 30 ° while the dynamic minute ring rotates 390 °. This allows hours and minutes to be read from one reference point, preserving the logic of Blue Planet. Beneath the visual drama, the movement runs at
28,800 vph with 26jewels and a 41-hour reserve.
ADARK FORM,HELD IN BALANCE
Black Star extends the Blue Planet silhouette into a darker, more composed object. The 46mm round case is made from titanium and finished with a DLC coating, giving the watch greater hardness, depth, and a unified black pres- ence. Its lug-free profile keeps the form continuous, allowing the case and strap to flow as one uninterrupted outline while the dial remains the visual center.
The case keeps its minimal architecture, but the material language shifts toward shadow and contrast. Brushed surfaces lend restraint, while the black coating deepens every curve around the wrist. A CNC-grooved crown brings tactile precision without breaking the calm. Above the dial, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating protects the cosmic scene and keeps de - tails close to the eye.
